We were transported in to Grado from our B&B hotel into the center of town this morning. I sure hope that all of the accommodations are even half as nice as last nights. It was really nice being waited. Supper was a real treat and was an insight into life in Spain. The fresh home grown salad and omlet fresh farm eggs was great.
The first 7 kms of todays hike was straight up hill. I swear that a lot of the sections were 20+%. We were fortunate that the heat of the day had not yet hit us. Never the less I was soaked in sweat by the time we got to the top. The following down hill into our lunch stop was no piece of cake either as it was climbing down very steep trail which was all large uneven boulders. I was glad to make it into the little village where we had our lunch. A coke and sandwich for 3.5 euros was a heck of a deal.
After lunch with about 10 kms to go we were back on the trail at around 12:30. More up hill but not as steep and and with a lot less boulders to climb over. However it was getting really hot at close to 30 C. This wasn't bad when you were on the wooded trails but on the open path way or down the pavement it was a real cooker.
I was just about fading out when we came to this fountain which had been made into a place to bath your feet. The water was close to 15 C. It was the highlight of the day. Soaking my feet in the cool water totally revived me. The last 6 kms into town were easy.
A shower and a couple of beers with Bob made the 21.4 kms a spectacular day.
