March 9 2023 Padron to Hotel Francos Teo

Today was a short day with only about 10 kms,  This was because we were in a hotel which was  about 3 kms north of the town yesterday.  I was certainly glad to have a shorter day after yesterday and when we stepped out the door this morning we were faced with more of the same kind of driving rain as we had all day yesterday.  I couldn't help thinking" If I were at home I wouldn't even think about going out, little lone setting out for a 10 kms walk".   But here we were headed down a busy road trucks flying by drenching you with spray.   Not only that but there  were thunder storms in the forecast lasting until around 1:00 pm.

We were off the busy road soon enough and walking down narrow little winding lanes with no traffic.  I have been totally amazed at how many little lanes there are and how well maintained the entire Camino route is.  Zero garbage, great signage along the way,  all the beautiful blue and yellow tiles with the clam shell and the arrow as well as the concrete mileage markers.  Then we came to a construction site where the work was being done and it was quite a task picking our way through it.  So yes a lot of work is put into the Camino route.

At the 3 kms mark we came to a café across from a cathedral.  The cathedral was closed but the café was open so we went in to get out of the rain.  When we came out 30 minutes later the rain had stopped.  Yahoo!

A couple of kms further down the road the sun broke through and even though it looked pretty black off to the west the sun was shining on us.  It wasn't far to the hotel where we are staying and we rolled in at about 11:30 just as lunch was starting so we sat down and had a great lunch.  While we were there our luggage arrived.  The three Spanish pilgrims who have been on the same itinerary as us rolled in.  They we continuing on to Santiago de Compostella today as it is only 13 kms out.

The hotel is a tiny little place with only 3-4 rooms but it is very deluxe so I am more than happy to be staying here.

Looks like the weather has changed and even though the forecast is for rain tomorrow it is only trace amount so it should be a great day.

The rain in Spain stays mainly on the plain, or not. Perhaps typical early spring weather in Spain?? The goats don't seem to mind. Hopefully the rain stays off the remainder of your route.

Thanks for the blog. Keep up the good work.
