Day 3 Troyes to Chaumont
After leaving the campground it was a little tricky to get out of town so the tour leader lead a group ride out to this bike path. The path was along side this canel. It was really pretty. The route was flat and there was no one on the path. So I put the Surly out front and stayed there the entire morning. Going hard, I had shaken all of the riders except for Jim. The lunch stop was at the 60 km mark and I was first in.
Jim and I took the detour into the hills to see the Champaign vineyards. The hills were beautiful but they were very steep. The detour added about 10 kms to the ride but we were on the pedals and just as we got to Chaumont we caught up to Don and were into camp 1,2,3. Not bad for a 110 kms day.
Although it isn’t raining the clouds are low and it is cold. Tomorrow is a day off and we will explore the town of Chaumont. It looks like a beautiful city.
Thanks for visiting my blog and thanks for your comments.
Let’s ride!
