Offa's Dyke

Llangattock Lingoed

Hunter's Moon Adventure

Supplemental  Post

September 7, 2024

Normally I don't really post supplemental posts unless something total unexpected or something absolutely exceptional happens.  Well this is one of those circumstances.

After we checked in at The Old Rectory we were told that we needed reservations at the Hunter's Moon Inn which is just down the road.  Our hostess made reservations for us.  A few minutes later she informed me that the power has gone out at the Hunter's Moon but Chris the owner has organized a supper at the neighbors and we should just wander down to the pub.

When we got down there they had a lot of candles out and were serving drinks.  There was a lot of joking and kidding around amongst the nine of us who were there for supper.

About 7:00 Chris said it was time to wander down to the neighbors house for our meal.  They had prepared venison pie for us.  "Which is what we would have ordered had the power not been out"

We were all seated around the table and a huge loaf of fresh bread was brought out with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.  Just Fabulous!   After way too much bread the main course was served.  It was a huge plate of steamed cabbage with spinach and other vegetables, and a fresh from the oven  dish which had the venison pie.  It was totally over the top.  While I was totally stuffed I could not resist the desert which was a Welsh specialty banana cream pie.  Wow was it ever great.

On top of all of the great food we had a fabulous time with the other Offa's Dyke walkers.

Chris turned a total disaster into one of the most memorable evenings I have had in a long time.

A huge Thank You goes out to Chris at the Hunter's Moon.

  1. What an amazing dinner. . . I was thinking you might have to eat a power bar for supper when I read the electricity was out!
