Bucharest to
Amsterdam
Pre-cruise notes
May 10, 2024
It has been quite a few years since Agnes and I were on an
organized cruise. We are really looking
forward to traveling with our good friends Jim and Sandra. We have been on a lot of different trips and
Cruises with Jim and Sandra all around the world and it has been far too long
since we have been out with them.
The cruise we are taking is with Viking River cruises and is
on the Viking Ship Vidar. It is one of
their river long ships. It carries 190
passengers and has a crew of 50. This ship
was constructed in 2015 and is 443 feet long.
Agnes and I have been on three previous river cruises, once on the Nile
in Egypt and once on the Yangtze in China.
These river cruises were only 7 days and were on much smaller
ships. Hopefully this cabin is a little
bit bigger than the one we had on the Yangtze cruise as this cruise is 21 days.
We fly out on May 12 to Vancouver and overnight there, and
then in the morning we fly to Paris where we change planes for the final flight
to Bucharest. Viking meets us at the
airport and we are transferred to a hotel and then a second transfer to the
ship the following morning.
This promises to be an exciting trip as there is a tour
every day. I hope my hiking boots are up
to it.
There have been a couple of differing reports on how
good/bad the ship internet is but I am hoping to get a blog post up every
day. I would like to invite you along on
this exciting adventure with us.
